Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) Grand Repos armchair (creation 1930) Tecta ed., c.1985

About the Item

Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) Grand Repos armchair (creation 1930) Tecta edition, Germany, circa 1985 Chrome-plated steel, sheet steel, dark blue and blue leather, plastic castors. Adjustable tilt Height 90 x Width 70 x Depth 110 cm Details : In 1930, Jean Prouvé created the D80 Grand Repos armchair for his own private use. Only one copy exists. Reissued by Tecta in 1985, it was part of a first limited edition of 1,000. Based on Jean Prouvé's first preparatory sketch in 1930, this model was developed, produced and distributed under license from Tecta. This example is from the first series, in which the side panels were welded to the armrest supports and not - as in the production of later series - visibly screwed. Literature: Jean Prouvé. Une architecture par l'industrie, Zurich 1971, p. 143 Tecta catalog, circa 1985 Die Poetik des technischen Objekts, Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein 2005, p. 307
