Michael van Beuren Mexican Modernist Pine and Woven Palm Lounge Chair, 1940s

About the Item

An uncommon and stunning lounge chair designed by American Bauhaus designer Michael van Beuren in Mexico in the 1940s. Warm pine frame with original handwoven palm fiber seat and back. Hand forged iron bracket on back with original flathead screws. The brand new, custom, navy blue tweed cushions have a fabulous nubby texture and contrast beautifully against the warm reddish frame. This chair will add character, texture, and warmth to any space.

  • Condition:
    Repaired: Some cane has been woven into the palm on the front for reenforcement. This was an old professional repair which looks great. A piece of leather was also added to the underside the chair, under the seat, for additional reenforcement. Reupholstered. Wear consistent with age and use. Great vintage condition with patina galore. Lots of charm. Solid and sturdy. Brand new cushions are flawless.
