De Sede DS-1025/09 Terrazza Sofa in Perla Upholstery by Ubald Klug, 1 Element

About the Item

Two ingeniously designed sofa elements are the great basis for one’s own and personal interpretation of interior design and furnishing concept. The individual element is reminiscent of a terrace-like, stepped slope with different widths and depths. As in the case of the interiors of the Pop Art generation, all it takes is a single building block each on the “left” and “right” to create an inviting 2-seater sofa, a seating pyramid or a little mountain range of sofas. Please note: the price of this listing reflects 1 element. Please inquire if you are interested in different configurations or additional elements. Additional information: Material: Perla Leather Type: Nappa leather, lightly pigmented Thickness: 1.2 to 1.4 mm Characteristics: Meticulous processing preserves the natural quality – with a characteristic pattern of creases, grain and pores. • Ulbald Klug DS-1025 "Terrazza" Sofa for De Sede, 1974
    By De Sede, Ubald Klug
    Located in Lonigo, Veneto
Ulbald Klug DS-1025 "Terrazza" sofa for De Sede, leather, Switzerland, 1974. Ubald Klug designed this rare modular DS-1025 "Terrazza" sofa as a real living landscape. Each element recalls a terrace-like, stepped slope with different widths and depths. A valley or a mountain can appear depending on how the individual modules are assembled. The "Terrazza" was recreated thanks to the De Sede manufacturer and its ability to transform high-quality leather into seating furniture. This multi-layered upholstered relief invites people to sit or lie down, combining durability and comfort with a unique design. After training at the Art and Design College in Zurich, Ulbald Klug (1932) gained further experience in architectural practices in Zurich and Helsinki. Paris has been his sphere of activity since 1966, when he founded his architecture and interior design bureau. Klug proved himself successful at finding solutions to different challenges and developed non-conformist solutions - from furniture design, to concepts for urban installations, to architectural prototypes...
