Solid Wood Set - Stools & Table - Jean Prouvé & Pierre Janneret - Period: XXth

About the Item

Delightful set in solid wood, composed of a coffee table and a pair of tripod stools works realized in collaboration by two major actors of the French modernism in the XXth century. The French architect and designer, Jean Prouvé and the Swiss architect and designer Pierre Jeanneret. When the friendship is present beyond the collaboration. Period : XXth Circa : 1940- 1945 Dimensions of the table : Height : 37cm  Tabletop dimensions : Length : 74cm x width : 57cm Stool dimensions : Height : 47cm   The standardization claimed by Le Corbusier since the early 1920s, will affect the work of Pierre Jeanneret, his cousin, and later Jean Prouvé, his collaborator. Pierre Jeanneret had more professional ambitions in common with Jean Prouvé than the latter with Le Corbusier. One of the important projects that the two men completed was the "F 8×8 house". This project began in Jean Prouvé's mind in the late 1930s. He joined forces with Pierre Jeanneret in 1939, in the midst of a period of turmoil, to complete his project. Materials such as metal were in short supply, prompting the two architects to create with materials that had previously been secondary, or even non-existent, in their designs, such as wood.  Temporary and comfortable dwellings as well as furniture are then realized in collaboration.  Pursuing the same quest for modernity and ingenuity, Pierre Jeanneret and Jean Prouvé were able to respond to practical considerations while sacrificing neither the quality of execution nor the final aesthetic.
