19th Century Swedish Pine Secretary Sideboard

About the Item

Sideboard with a secretary desk made during the early 1800s, 1820 to 1830, in northern Sweden from pine. The sideboard is a large, well-made quality furniture of very nice quality. It measures a meter and half in width, 151 cm to be precise, and 61 cm deep. That results in a heavy and solid furniture with a strong presence and dependable character. The side doors are curved which are an unusual feature in furniture of this time and style. In addition to the doors and drawers the sideboard also has a secretary desk with a painted interior. The green paint contrast nicely with the lighter exterior and emphasises the inside of the desk. The desk is also fitted with small drawers and multiple hidden compartments and secret spaces. To top, the sideboard has a balustrade wrapping around three sides with turned columns. The more delicate and detailed balustrade gives the sideboard a more elegant and luxurious appearance with the added mystery of the secret compartments – for those in the know. Healthy and stable. The sideboard has working locks and keys. Height to the table top is 127.5 cm and the balustrade is another 12 cm.
