Late 18th Century Classical Parcel Gilt Bremen Sonnenschrank or Sun Armoire
About the Item
An exceptional "sun armoire" from the north German free Hanse city of Bremen, this schrank is one of the finest examples of its kind in existence. This princely armoire stylistically nods to Gustavian Sweden, but its pleasing proportions and finely orchestrated detailing evidence the hand of a talented designer - and perhaps more accurately a German neoclassical architect. Bremen, circa 1800.
