19th Century French Louis XIV Writing Table, Desk
About the Item
19th Century French Louis XIV writing table ~ desk is a handsome piece that is perfect for adding a little elegance to your room while providing a very useful surface with storage. Hand-crafted from solid old-growth oak, it features a simple plank top with beveled edge, with an upper tier that holds two drawers, and is finished on all four sides making it ideal for placement anywhere in the room. The drawers feature fine molded detail, subtle foliate accents, and cast brass pendant pulls. Each cornerpost sports pyramidal accents, with the sides and "front" featuring molding and accent carving that complements the drawer facade. Support is provided by four impressive tapered columnar legs, fitted with tiered molding and carved with the same foliate accents on the four flats, joining together at plinths with pyramidal accents that serve as the juncture affixed to the modified "H" stretcher that provides stylish strength. Multiple tiers of molded detail define the feet for the perfect finishing touch.
