1950s Edward Wormley for Dunbar Extension Dining Set 6 Chairs 2 Leaves

1950s Dunbar, designer Edward Wormley extention dining table with 2 leaves model 5462 with 6 chairs model 5480. Rare Mid-Century Modern 1950s Edward Wormley extension dining table 2 leaves and 6 a-frame armchairs. Dining table can be seen in the dunbar book of contemporary furniture (Manufacturers Catalog) Pgs. 80 & 198-199, Made In The United States Of America, also featured in Dunbar fine furniture of the 1950s, Pina , pg. 187 Edward Wormley For Dunbar extension dining table and original 2 leaves. The Black piano finish top is also in great vintage condition. Dunbar dining table does show it's age and use, minor surface use can be seen. Nonetheless it's beauty still exists. Original foot glides are original to table. The edge of the table shows use and age, see pics. Dining Table model 5462 measures 30.5 inches tall by 54 inches in diameter with no leaves. With 1 leaf 69 inches diameter, with both leaves 84 inches in diameter. Edward Wormley for Dunbar model 5480 sculpted a-frame armchairs. Sculpturally curvaceous a-framed armchairs with tapered angled rear legs, tapered front legs with beautiful long brass capped detailing, caned backrests featuring 2 long brass doweled stretchers on each armchair. The upholstery is dated and should be updated to revive these beautifully sculptured pieces of art back to it's stunning design. As you can see from the vintage pages of the Dunbar catalog, (dunbar furniture Edward Wormley office furniture catalog mid century modern) these a-frame chairs are also designed to be utilized in the office as well as the dining room. The chairs are in great vintage condition strong and sturdy but needs TLC. The cane is good with no rips or tears. However the frame work on 3 of the chairs need to be glued back into place. The upholstery can be replaced to enhance your home or office. All long brass leg caps are present on each chair as well as the long brass dowels, see pics. The Curvaceous Armchairs dimensions are 33 inches tall by 26 inches wide by 26 inches deep by 24.75 seat interior by 19 inches seat height by 25.75 inches arm height. Edward wormley was a longtime director of design for the dunbar furniture company and a leading force bringing the 20th century modern design into the homes of America. During the 1940s E. Wormley guided production of the dunbar company towards modern designed furniture. Edward Wormley for dunbar exhibited designs at the moma "Good design" of the 1950s, along with other well known and accomplished Mid-Century Modern designers of his time.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Dining Table Does Show It's Age And Use, Minor Surface Use Can Be Seen. Nonetheless It's Beauty Still Exists. The Original Foot Glides Are Original. Chairs Strong And Sturdy But Needs TLC, 3 Frames Needs Gluing, No Holes, Tears or Rips In Cane.
