About the Item
This delightful summertime idyll depicts three nude and semi nude male youth in Greek costume, led by a Panlike figure playing a pipe, walking along a hilltop overlooking a lush river valley carpeted with trees. The artist, Arthur Riedel, captures the mood of late afternoon as the three young men are heading home after gathering armfuls of wildflowers, each of their brows crowned with fragile blooms. The artist lived and worked in Germany, so it is not surprising that the beauty of the scene suggests poetry and Mahler symphonies! (Dimensions indicate the size of the visible print only; the matte and frame are 16.5" high by 20.5" wide.).
