Antique Victorian Aesthetic Period Brooch and Earrings
About the Item
For those who like sweets, I offer a brooch together with earrings In sterling silver with gold overlay, with the now known Japanese aesthetic. Japanese art of this Victorian period depicts asymmetric natural scenes of flowers, often butterflies and birds, water, sun, trees and reeds. At back of the brooch is an intact locket for your special memorabilia. The Japanese aesthetic opened to the world when Japanese international trade relations began in the mid 19th century. The images are serene, subtle and cheerful with asymmetry signaling the imperfection of the universe. The brooch measures 1 1/2 inches in diameter. The earrings drop 1 1/2 inches and are light in weight. Condition is perfect.
