About the Item
An Edwardian amethyst and pearl dragonfly brooch, with faceted amethyst-set thorax and abdomen and seed pearl set wings, the eyes set with pearls, all to a yellow gold mount, circa 1900, measuring 2.5x5.4cm, gross weight 7.5 grams.
This antique brooch is in excellent condition for its age. Marked and tested as 15ct gold.
This delightful brooch was made at the turn of the twentieth century and is in the form of a detailed and colourful dragonfly. The thorax and abdomen of the insect are set with vivid faceted amethyst stones. The wings and legs are crafted from yellow gold set with lustrous seed pearls, both which provide a beautiful and bright contrast to the amethyst. This pretty piece comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and would look lovely pinned to a floral dress.
