An absolutely exquisite gemstone pin from the Victorian (ca1847-1919) era! Crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold, this fantastic piece consists of a relatively large horseshoe motif lined with 7 (always 7 for good luck!) rich gemstones. The smoothly polished surface features a colorful multi-gemstone design which consists of two luscious rubies, three vibrant sapphires, and two sparkling old Mine Cushion Cut diamonds. Each facet catches the light beautifully with every turn, and the ensemble of colors is absolutely beautiful, perfectly representing this French-made piece. Additional old Rose Cut diamonds adorn the base and accent both tips of the horseshoe, giving a total approximate diamond carat weigh of 0.40ctw combined. Finishing the piece is a lovely wirework design that lines the entire edge of the piece, adding a wonderful eye-catching touch. A bar pin and safety clasp rest at the back, perfect for adding to a favorite garment, and stamped on the base is a French touch mark of a horse head, indicating its gold purity and that it was assayed in France between 1847-1919. An incredible piece that blends seamlessly into modern day fashion, the pin has been left in its original state, but could be converted into a pin/pendant, if desired. A fabulous statement piece when worn, this pin is perfect for the equestrian enthusiast and would make a fantastic addition to any collection! The horseshoe measures approximately 1 3/8" tall, about 1 1/4" wide, and 1/4" thick. The overall pennyweight of the piece is 9.4dwt (14.5 grams).

Condition:

Wear consistent with age and use. The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gold setting or to the gemstones, all of which are intact and securely set. The bar pin and clasp are secure and in good working condition.
