Victorian Yellow Gold and Pearl Talon Pin
About the Item
A Victorian yellow gold and pearl talon stick-pin, the yellow gold pin terminating in a realisticaly carved eagle’s talon claw with scale and feather details, holding a pearl measuring approximately 6.1x5.5x5.0mm, accompanied by GCS report 78161-86 stating to be natural, circa 1890, the jewelled part measuring 1.7cm long, the pin measuring 8.5cm long, gross weight 4.2 grams.
Unmarked, pin tested as 14ct gold and the eagle claw tested as 18ct gold.
A Victorian gold pin in excellent condition.
A whimsical Victorian stick pin from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. This pin is wonderfully detailed, depicting the scales and feathers of a bird’s talon clutching a lustrous natural pearl. This lovely pin would be an excellent adornment to a jacket lapel or to hold a silk scarf closed.
