Open Basketweave Cufflinks in 14 Karat Yellow Gold

About the Item

A pair of cufflinks featuring a handsome open basketweave pattern in 14K yellow gold. The gold on the faces and backs has been painstakingly hand-engraved; the workmanship is excellent. The toggle backs have a good, firm snap, making the cufflinks easy to slip into the buttonholes, and holding them firmly in place. The faces measure 15.7 mm square; toggle backs measure 19.7mm by 4.5mm. Together the cufflinks weigh a substantial 17 grams. They are signed with a maker's mark we're not familiar with (an S inside a diamond) and are stamped 14K. A very versatile pair of cufflinks - suitable for formal, business and casual occasions.

Ming's Honolulu offered pieces in gold, sterling silver, pearls, jade, coral, and Ivory, depicting Hawaiian and Asian motifs and hand carved figures of flowers and natural objects. 14K pieces were marked HK and 14K. Sterling and tinted or dyed ivory pieces were popular sellers and only the finest African elephant ivory, legally purchased and imported, were used. Wook Moon trained many carvers in the midcentury who went on to individual fame, including Isami Doi...
