Antique pendant in the style of Etruscan Revival by Ernesto Pierret. This piece displays fine bead work as only a master could achieve. Ernesto Pierret, A Frenchman working in Italy, was a contemporary of Castellani and one of the finest jewelry artists of Rome at this time. He, therefore, was a leading 19th century jeweler specializing in fine archeological and Etruscan Revival jewelry - which was inspired by the discovery of the 700-300 BC tombs of the Etruscan people. Ernesto Pierret jewelry can today be seen in museum collections. This large etruscan revival pendant is a fine example of such pieces and we have not encountered another to rival this example of fine gold work. The center stone is a hand carved carnelian scarab.
