Important French Silver & Guilloche Enamel Inkwell by Edouard Henry Dreyfous

This inkwell is one of the finest examples we have had in our collection to date. Crafted by the firm 'Dreyfous' the inkwell is made from .800 purity silver, etched crystal and cranberry guilloche enamel. The square form crystal base which sits upon four scroll feet is etched with floral motifs and bordered by gilded .800 purity silver that features panels of rich cranberry guilloche enamel. The central bulbous inkwell features further guilloche enamel that is overlaid with silver garlands and a hinged lid with floral knop. To the inside of the inkwell sits what appears to be its original glass ink liner which is in lovely condition. To the inside rim of the well is engraved 'Dreyfous Paris Londres New York' which helps date the piece to between 1890 and 1920.

Very rare and unusual desk seal, created in England during the Edwardian period, back in the early 1900's. This seal feature the arms of the Prince of Wales and is composed by the agate pommel, carved with smooth surfaces and the round mount setting crafted in yellow gold of 18 karats with scrolls decorations. The seal depicts three feathers aligned over a crown, carved with incised intaglio in natural white agate.
Gemstones: The handle pommel is carved from a single piece of brown translucent agate with bluish veins.
Weight: 14.95 Grams, (9.58 Dwt).

The coat of arms of the Prince of Wales is the official personal heraldic insignia of the Princes of Wales, a title traditionally granted to the heir apparent of the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, formerly the Kingdom of Great Britain and before that the Kingdom of England. Since Edward I awarded it to his son the future Edward II, the heir apparent to the English throne has been created with the title Prince of Wales. The history of the coat of arms is closely linked with those of the Royal coat of arms of England and the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom. However, as the noted antiquarian and heraldist Charles Boutell wrote in 1863, "The Arms of the Prince of Wales have a distinct individuality of their own, with which nothing ought to be directly associated".

The badge has no connection with the native Princes of Wales. Its use is generally traced back to Edward, the Black Prince (1330–1376), eldest son and heir apparent of Edward III of England. This exquisite desk object was crafted in France during the early 20th Century and would have been an impressive object to own. The desk seal is crafted from a cigar shaped piece of black onyx which features a diamond set collar to one end and a monogram intaglio 'seal' to the other, all circa 1915. The monogram is 'AMF' which has been beautifully engraved into the underside of the seal. The piece retains its original Morocco leather fitted box signed 'Appay', a French manufacturer, and embossed 'AMF' to the top of the lid. This rare piece has been designed in a squared curvilinear shape and carefully crafted up in solid sterling silver .935/.999 . The watch is gilded and is fully embellished with applications of purple-violet and white enamels over a geometric guilloche patterns. It is fitted at the reverse, with an easel back retractable hinged stand.

An incredible travel-desk clock, created in America during the art deco period by the jewelry and luxury watches makers Cress Arrow Co., back in the 1925. This fabulous flamboyant piece is a truly magnificent work of Art Deco jewelry art and has been crafted with very elegant Japonism patterns in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with accents in platinum for the setting of the diamonds.
The piece is decorated in both sides with abstract images of the Japan national tree of the cherry blossom, entirely embellished with applications of blue, black and rose enamels.
It is fitted with a slider mechanism to discover the dial and stand in the desk. The movement is Swiss, mechanical hand winding. The dial is silver with platinum arabic numbers and arrows, signed Swiss.
Japonesque, Japonism or Japonaiserie are French terms that refers to the popularity and influence of Japanese art and design among a number of Western European artists during the late 19th century, the art nouveau and the art deco period.
Diamonds: The platinum arabic numbers and the arrows are with 144 old European rose cut diamonds, 1.08 carats, E/F color, VS-1 clarity.

The Cressarrow Company
Was originally formed as a jewelry manufacturer in Newark New Jersey in 1890 as the N.E. Whiteside & Co and was succeeded by Whiteside and Blank in 1903. The firm manufactured 14 carat brooches, scarf pins, sleeve buttons, studs, and bracelets, accented with enamel. Later they produced high quality jewelry in platinum. The United States Patent and Trademark Office registration indicates that the C with the arrow through it was first used for brooches, cuff-buttons, pendants, necklaces and rings by the original firm beginning in 1890. In 1911, the company was awarded the exclusive licence to sell the expansion bracelet that had been invented in Germany. Beautiful neo classic snuff box, created in St, Petersburg Russia, at the workshop of Henrik Wigström, back in the 1908. This piece has been carefully crafted in the Russian imperial and Louis XVI style, in solid yellow gold of 56 zolotnik (14kt) and embellished with applications of white enamel. Decorated around with garlands and intricates dotted patterns. Fitted with an invisible hinge and close perfectly well.

Measurements: 41 mm by 39 mm by 14 mm (1.61 x 1.53 x 0.55 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped on both parts with Russian marks; the kokoshnik mark with the letter a for the city of Saint Petersburg, the maker's mark HW associated to Henrik Wigström inside an oval cartouche, scratched with the inventory numbers 86111 and the 56 zolotnik mark for the assay and warranty of the gold.
Hallmarks: Stamped in the border with German importation marks; the Crown mark, the retailer mark AT inside an oval and the 585 mark for the assay and warranty of the gold.
Henrik Immanuel Wigström born on 1862 and was a Finnish silver & goldsmith. He was one of the most important Fabergé workmasters along with Michael Perchin. Perchin was the head workmaster from 1886 until his death in 1903, when he was succeeded by his chief assistant Henrik Wigström. These two workmasters were responsible for almost all the imperial Easter eggs.
Henrik Wigström was born in Ekenäs, Finland, and was apprenticed to a local Danish born goldsmith named Peter Madsén, a successful manufacturer of silverware who was familiar with the jewellery trade in the city of St. Petersburg, as at one time he had had a workshop there. Once in Madsén's employment, his master's trade with Russia, as well as his numerous business contacts here, brought him to work in St. Petersburg. Goldsmith Werner Elfström employed Wigström as a apprentice on his arrival in the capital in 1875. Wigström became assistant in 1884, at the age of 22, to Perchin, whose shop at that time was already working exclusively for Fabergé.
Wigström became head workmaster at Fabergé after Perchin's death in 1903. The number of craftsmen in Wigström's workshop diminished drastically with the outbreak of World War I. By 1918, the Revolution forced the complete closing of the House of Fabergé. Aged 56, Wigström retreated almost empty-handed to his summer house, on Finnish territory, and died at Terijoki in 1923. Edward I. Farmer Inkwell in Sterling Silver, Fluorite and Amethyst

A monumental inkwell by New York identity, Edward I. Farmer. The piece consists of a large piece of carved fluorite and a carved amethyst finial which has all been set in sterling silver. The mount for these carved stones is elaborate with a floral motif to the foot and decorative engraved borders on each rim of the piece. The internal sterling silver 'well' is removable for cleaning and polishing. The inkwell is in lovely condition, however appears to have some signs of old stabilisation to the fluorite which has slightly yellowed over time. These stabilisations could very well be from when the piece was formed as an inkwell, with Farmer often using stones of age.
