Ancient Greek 5th Century BC Corinthian Helmet Coin Silver 18K Gold Mens Ring

About the Item

An authentic small silver "diobol" coin from ancient Mesambria in Thrace 450-350 BC depicts a warrior in Corinthian helmet facing. Mesambria was a Doric Greek colony on an island in the Black Sea in what is now Bulgaria. The Corinthian helmet was a helmet made of bronze that had slits for the eye and mouth. The Greek hoplite (soldier) would often wear the helmet tipped up for comfort when not in use. This uncommon coin is set in a large/small 18K gold twist wire accented bezel atop a simple matte-finish hammered sterling shank currently sized 10.5. It is resizable by your local jeweler. This ring is sent with a lifetime laminated coin certificate of authenticy. It is quite unusual in ancient coinage to have a frontal image, with most coins showing a side view. Rare, classic and unique!
