Ancient Greek 5th Century BC Lion Coin 18K Gold Ring
About the Item
A small ancient Greek hemiobol from Kyzikos in Mysia 510-475 BC is simply set surrounded by line texture bezel and hammered band in this delicate 18K gold ring currently sized 6.5. It can be resized easily. The coin side shown is the stylized roaring head of a lion. The reverse is a forepart of boar with fish behind. A Greek colony of Miletos, founded mid-8th century B.C., Kyzikos was situated on the coast of what is now western Turkey. It occupied a position of great commercial importance and its electrum staters, called "Kyzikenes', circulated widely in international trade throughout the 5th and most of the 4th century B.C. In Hellenistic times Kyzikos preserved its prosperity by maintaining friendly relations with Pergamene kings and, later, with Rome. A coin certificate of authenticity is included.

He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age.
