One In A Billion
Located in Dallas, TX
Space has always fascinated me, it engages with my inquisitive mind, like I suppose it has done since we’ve been on this planet. It has inspired wonder, mythology and science since the days when the only tools humans had to look on it were their eyes. Now it seems the more that we discover the more awe it has to offer and we’re searching within it for the answers to many of the important questions we have about our own existence. My fascination with it however has also always been a deeply emotional one, like somehow despite so much of it being on an inconceivable scale, I’m somehow connected to it and it somehow reflects my emotions. Often when I think about it I can feel an overwhelming sense of vulnerability and isolation even utter insignificance when faced with its enormity “Look again at that pale blue dot… every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam” Carl Sagan But think again and it can engender emotions of importance, uniqueness and potential, good fortune to think that given its enormity and the sheer improbability of us being here that somehow we are, and we actually are aware of it and we should be thankful that somehow it gave birth to us. “The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself” Carl Sagan The Milky Way, our home galaxy is home to up to an estimated 400 billion stars. One in a Billion comprises of 28 perfectly preserved butterfly...

Norma Shoulders, Henrietta, OK by John Stryker, Vintage Silver Gelatin Print
By John Stryker
Located in Dallas, TX
Norma Shoulders, Henrietta, OK by John Stryker is a 10 x 8 inch vintage silver gelatin print. This photograph is signed in ink on print recto, and titled in pencil on print verso. John Stryker was born in Rockford, Illinois, September 1, 1883. He is most remembered for his body of photographs he took of the "Olympic of Western sport"*- the Rodeo. During his lifetime he crossed America, working rodeos as an announcer, a producer, promoter and sometimes a rider. He invented the chute that the animals come out of and he developed new ways of photographing action during an event. Dramatic shots were taken from the ground, propping his camera on the toe of his right boot right next to a bucking bronco. Some historians believe that John Stryker was directly responsible for the growth and sophistication of the sport. His negatives are in the collection of the University of Texas at Permian Basin, Odessa. His photographs have been exhibited during his lifetime at the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, Wyoming, and the Amon Carter Museum in Ft. Worth, Texas. His photographs have been published widely including Life, Look, The Cattleman, The Western Horseman, and The Quarter Horse Journal. In 1977, The Rodeo of John Addison Stryker...

The Garden Snake
Located in Dallas, TX
I decided to try a raw and unprimed canvas to enhance more of a natural element in a painting. The palette I chose was very neutral and earthy, but I brought in the pink for a little pop. Most of my paintings are not this simple, but I liked the clean lines and movement I had created on the canvas. I figured this is one that could go in most homes – contemporary or traditional. I see a face, a snake, and some flora. Classic. This piece is an original work derived from my own imagination, all reproduction rights are retained by Brad Fuller...

In the digital age we take photos. Sometimes I am inspired by interesting or beautiful content I see in day - to - day life. This cartoon king head was lying in a parking lot in 2021. Beheaded from a Mardi Gras King Cake, I found it perfect timing to take the pic since we had just had a change in the White H ouse and January 6th was still fresh on everyone’s minds. Often, I do not know why I paint what end up on the canvas. It’s like a dream, you wake up trying to figure out the meaning, and if I was to research the meaning of “Pink Dream” the apple represents love, beauty, and wisdom while the knife represents injustice and fear. A flame in a dream can represent fear of exposure of vulnerability. Outlines of faces could represent a reflection of someone I know or a part of myself that I have yet to discover.
