The designer and artist who created this Arts & Crafts work of lighting art must have been inspired by the wonderful colors that mother nature has to offer in the late afternoons and evenings in the summer. Especially the copper red light that the sun creates when disappearing under the horizon seems the source of inspiration for this artist. With the colors in this particular alabaster shade AND in the brass 'frame' corresponding with the marvelous colors at sundown this one of a kind pendant really is a joy to own and to look at. In our experience it is also at that time of day that swallows are the most active. Just like the embossed swallows in this shade we too have seen them circling above and around a swimming pool in the Canary Islands. By the way, the workmanship that has gone into hand-crafting this remarkable chandelier is of a level that you don't find anymore in this day and age. Never mind the amount of time it must have taken to first hand-draw and then completely hand-craft this gem. We have said it many times before and we will say it again here: both with the light switched on and off, the colors in this alabaster shade are much warmer and much more beautiful than in our photos. You can take our word for it. Because of the many colors and 'patches' one could also say that this pendant (when looking at it from different sides and angles) has many faces. That too is the beauty of surrounding yourself with truly natural materials.

The more translucent veins and patches (and there are many in this light) contrast perfectly when the light is switched on, because the already beautiful white alabaster then turns into a full moon like white, creating a look and feel that only mother nature can 'produce'. Thanks to its timeless design and combined with the matching color and large size alabaster canopy, this work of lighting art will look great in all kinds of rooms and in many types of interiors. We could again shoot 50 more photos, but you still would not be able to see the true beauty of this antique light fixture, because in real life our antique alabaster fixtures always have that little bit extra and this pendant is no exception. This perfect size specimen is extra special, because of the perfectly balanced shade with its rounded edges. It was hand-carved from one solid rock of alabaster and apart from two reinforced hairlines on the inside, this unique alabaster pendant is in very good condition. The white and black shade is as solid and strong as it was when it was hand carved over 100 years ago and it even rings like a bell when you strike it. That is how structurally sound it is.
