Rohland-Kunst von Thomas Speare
Caroline Speare Rohland wurde am 20. April 1885 in Boston, Massachusetts, geboren. Sie studierte an der School of the Museum of Fine Arts, der Art Student League of New York City und bei Andrew Dasburg. Eine Zeit lang lebte und arbeitete Rohland in den Künstlerkolonien in Woodstock, New York, wo sie ihren zukünftigen Ehemann, den Künstler Paul Rohland, kennenlernte. Bis 1953 lebte sie in New York und Sierra Madre, Kalifornien. Rohland starb 1965 in Kalifornien. Ihre Werke werden in der Rehn Gallery (New York City), 1935; Woodstock (New York) AA; dem Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 1941; dem New Mexico Museum of Art, 1944, 1945; der National Academy of Design, 1945, 1946 und der Sierra Madre Arts Guild, 1948 ausgestellt. Die Wandbilder befinden sich unter anderem in den US-Postämtern von Bunkie (Los Angeles), Sylvania (Georgia) und Fulton (New York), in der Library of Congress, im New Mexico Museum of Art, im Whitney Museum of American Art (New York City) und im Honolulu Museum of Art.
