Dorothy King Landschaftsgemälde
Britisch, 1907-1990
Dorothy King wurde 1907 in London geboren und lebte dort. Sie studierte an der Hornsey School of Art bei J.C. Moody und anschließend kurz an der Slade School of Fine Art bei Randolph Schwabe. Nach dem Krieg begann sie professionell zu malen und wurde 1947 in die Royal Society of British Artists gewählt. Im Jahr 1959 war sie vorübergehend Wärterin der Galerien in der Suffolk Street und dann von 1961-74 Wärterin der South London Art Gallery. Kings Gemälde wurden in der Royal Academy, dem New English Arts Club und anderswo im Vereinigten Königreich ausgestellt. Ihre Arbeiten sind im Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York vertreten. Nach ihrem Tod im Jahr 1990 fand 1992 eine Gedenkausstellung in den Mall Galleries statt.
