Born in 1963 in Kotel, Bulgaria, Alexander Titorenkov is a renowned painter whose works masterfully blend hyperrealism with elements of photorealism and surrealism. His unique artistic voice has earned him a significant place in contemporary art, with his paintings housed in prestigious collections worldwide.
Titorenkov's artistic journey began in 1982 when he graduated from the Art School in Sofia, Bulgaria. He continued his education at The Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, where he specialized in Mural Painting in 1990. The following year, he graduated from the National Art Academy in Sofia with a Master of Arts (Hons) in Mural Painting, further cementing his mastery of the craft.
Over the course of his career, Titorenkov has participated in numerous group art exhibitions from 1988 to 2017, showcasing his exceptional technical skill and unique vision. His paintings are recognized for their precise details and intricate compositions, which reflect both classical training and modern sensibilities.
Titorenkov's style is rooted in hyperrealism, but he often incorporates elements of photorealism and surrealism to create a dynamic tension in his work. He chose these styles as the most fitting means of expressing his sense of form and artistic ideas. “My artistic style is rooted in hyperrealism, with elements of photorealism and occasional touches of surrealism. I chose these styles because they best express my sense of form and ideas. Through my work, I aim to showcase the academic foundation of form and image as a tool for developing modern and abstract concepts—ideas that can be interpreted by everyone in their own way. Despite the hyperrealistic nature of my compositions, they often explore universal themes and timeless subjects.
I am deeply inspired by the great masters of the Renaissance and often wonder how their works would evolve if they lived in the 20th or 21st century. In a way, I secretly hope that some of their paintings might resemble mine.
