A brilliant morning unfolds along the edge of a quiet lake in the Pinelands of New Jersey. Vigorous strokes suggest hanging willows and scattered water lilies. The composition draws the eye from the textured foreground to the serene, distant edge of the pond. A sense of calm and natural depth fills the scene.

About the Artist
Artist Onelio Marrero paints impressionist scenes that capture the romanticism of New York City or the soothing quiet of a rippling pond. His work evokes nostalgia and intimacy, giving the viewer a sense of having visited the same places before. “Each play of light, each texture, and each movement of a figure can have a captivating effect on me,” says Onelio. Living in New Jersey, he enjoys the luxury of having his favorite subjects to paint—whether it's the urban surroundings or the abundant nature just a short walk from his home. When he’s not painting, Onelio spends time with his grandchildren and immediate family, cultivates bonsai plants, and reads.
