3D-printed in bioplastic and hand-shaped, the Crumpled Vase combines digital precision with expressive craftsmanship. Its sculptural form and delicate texture make each piece a one-of-a-kind creation, individually molded by the artist’s hands.
Made by É Pedra Ateliê in São Paulo, Brazil
Concept
Light, shadow, and expressiveness. The Crumpled Collection draws inspiration from the flowing fabrics of Baroque painting and the movement found in Renaissance sculpture.
Each curve is formed by the gentle pressure of the artist’s fingers on the warm bioplastic surface. When heated, the material reveals remarkable flexibility, allowing the creation of organic folds that evoke motion and softness.
The process unfolds in two distinct stages. First, the digital model is designed and 3D-printed to form the base vessel. Then, in the physical world, the printed vase is heated and manually reshaped in a delicate thermomolding process.
A poetic fusion of technology and craftsmanship, the Crumpled Vase embodies the dialogue between the digital and the handmade—bringing a sense of movement, beauty, and meaning to everyday spaces.
