26 m²

Apartment von .PEAM in Munich, DE

This 26 sqm apartment proves that small spaces can still feel generous. Designed by PEAM and awarded the German Design Award for Best Interior, the project turns compact city living into something calm, warm, and effortless.

The brief was simple: create a cool but cozy home with everything integrated seamlessly. Kitchen, sleeping area, storage, workspace. All without the apartment ever feeling overloaded. So we stripped things back to the essentials and designed almost everything custom.

Lime plaster walls and ceilings create a soft, monochrome backdrop, while white-oiled brushed larch adds warmth throughout the space. In contrast, a nearly four-meter-long stainless steel kitchen brings a sharper, more industrial edge while hiding storage and even the washing machine behind clean surfaces.

At the center of the apartment sits a sculptural wooden cube concealing the bathroom. Tinted mirrors, plaster finishes, and integrated shelving make the small space feel surprisingly open and calm. The floating custom bed includes hidden storage underneath, while a slim bar-height desk stretching across the window works equally well for coffee, work, or dinner with friends.

What keeps the apartment from feeling too minimal are the vintage details. Restored 1960s fur armchairs, sculptural wall lights, handcrafted wooden objects. Pieces with history, texture, and a little imperfection.

The result feels quiet but never cold. Reduced, functional, and deeply livable. A small apartment designed to feel much bigger than its square meters.
