Inside this new-build Austin home, designer Taylor Clouse leaned hard into vintage and antique-fair finds — Hans Olsen leather sling chairs, a Svante Skogh love seat in need of reupholstery, a 1920s Baluchi pictorial rug — to give brand-new construction a lived-in, decades-old soul. The mood board took its cues from Ted Baker suits, Iceland's black-sand beaches, and 1970s cult films, then got grounded with bold complementary colors (merlot velvet against olive Pierre Frey, red walls against Green Smoke cabinets) that read as confident rather than clashing. The result is moody, collected, and distinctly un-new-build.
