Seagate
Informed by the family’s regular trips to the Greek Islands and the Amalfi coast, th vision for this Florida property combined antique wood framing with Mediterranean-inspired whitewashed floors, along with subtle maritime details like brass fixtures, a porthole window, and rope cabinet pulls. The central space was expanded with a truss from an 1860s barn, sourced by Upstate New York-based Grand Wood, adding volume and interest to the home’s roofline—and setting it apart from its surroundings. Designed to accommodate a growing number of grandchildren in sophisticated style, the layout relies on charming, thoughtful surprises like built-in bunk beds and a bathroom with triple sinks, as well as sofas on wheels for easy movement. Three vibrant sliding doors by Fitzhugh Karol bring colors like Yves Klein blue and lime green into the space, while Karol’s original carved wood banister, mantel, and bed frames blend seamlessly with the home’s collection of art by acclaimed sculptor Len Urso and others.
