Family Home von Imparfait Design Studio in Chicago, IL

Imparfait Design Studio’s Creative Director Rebekah Zaveloff looked at five houses with these clients who were moving back to Chicago from the suburbs because their kids wanted to finish high school in the city. They landed on a historic house in need of love, with challenges that included a white laboratory-style kitchen, a deep red dining room and various wood floor finishes. Imparfait was retained to renovate and design the four-bedroom, four-bathroom house. Floors were ripped up where needed and united with the same stain color. An ambiguous sunroom was converted to a multi-functional space – mudroom, office, dog stuff, and rollover pantry storage. The kitchen was opened to the dining room, with a huge, cased entrance to match the rest of the house. The final interior spaces exemplify Imparfait’s passion for bypassing an open floor plan in historic homes to create an environment where distinct rooms flow naturally into each other.
