1938 ROLEX Vintage Art Deco Ladies Dress Watch - 14K Rose Gold
Beautiful Vintage Design - Pleasing Original Condition - 1 Year Warranty
Today's offering showcases this gorgeous and uncommon Connoisseur of Time Certified Pre-Owned example of one of the company's distinctive and fine late Art Deco ladies dress watches.
Complete with its 14K rose gold case that features distinctive lugs and a complementary salmon dial (face), it has elegance and timeless class. It's original blued steel hands, which retain a pleasing blue color, beautiful complement the dial.
Powering this gem is a fine, early Rolex timekeeping mechanism. Featuring Rolex's patented Super Balance system as well as possessing a tonneau shape for longer running reserve and more accurate timekeeping, it employed Rolex's premier movement technology for the era.
While many of the company's similar ladies dress watches from the era were very nice, this example is a little unusual in the beauty of its case design, and it also has a very quality movement originally adjusted to two positions. It is also earlier than most similar watches which were made in the mid-1940's.
It is all original down to even the original winding crown.
Its case is in excellent condition with fairly light signs of previous polishing. It still strongly retains the serial number on the back. Its untouched original dial is in honest condition with fairly light aging.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, fairly recently fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).
For the finishing touch, we have meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Accompanying it is a vintage black leather strap vintage that has been worn but is very serviceable. If you would like a brand new black cord band installed, please inquire.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.

Die steigende Beliebtheit von Vintage-Rolex-Uhren ist für Liebhaber, Sammler und Branchenexperten keine Überraschung. Wenn es um zeitgenössische Luxusarmbanduhren geht, ist Rolex oft die erste Marke, die einem in den Sinn kommt. Das Unternehmen ist nicht nur für seine präzise Zeitmessung und tadellose Handwerkskunst bekannt, sondern auch für seinen einprägsamen Namen.
Die beneidenswerte weltweite Anerkennung von Rolex ist zum Teil dem Genie des Firmengründers Hans Wilsdorf zu verdanken. Als der in Deutschland geborene Uhrenhändler und sein Schwager Alfred Davis 1905 ihr Londoner Unternehmen gründeten, nannten sie es Wilsdorf & Davis, gemäß der traditionellen Formel.
Aber Wilsdorf war entschlossen, sich einen anderen Namen auszudenken, der kurz war, auf einem Zifferblatt gut aussah und in mehreren Sprachen leicht auszusprechen und zu merken war. Im Jahr 1908 ließ er den Namen Rolex markenrechtlich schützen. 1920 verlegte er das Unternehmen nach Genf und benannte es in Montres Rolex S.A. um.
Die Hauptgründe für den Erfolg der Marke sind jedoch das bereits erwähnte Engagement für Präzision und das unermüdliche Streben nach Innovation. Im Jahr 1926 führte das Unternehmen das treffend benannte Modell Oyster ein. Mit einer verschraubten Krone und einem verschraubten Gehäuseboden, beide mit Gummidichtungen versehen, war dies die erste wirklich wasserdichte Uhr.
Fünf Jahre später setzte Rolex mit der Oyster Perpetual noch einen drauf. Das patentierte Perpetual-Uhrwerk dieses Modells verfügte über einen Rotormechanismus, der es ihm ermöglichte, sich selbst aufzuziehen. Ein weiterer richtungsweisender Schritt war 1945 die Einführung der Datejust, die ein Datumsfenster auf dem Zifferblatt aufwies.
Die beiden bekanntesten Modelle des Unternehmens sind Sportuhren. Obwohl die Submariner, die 1953 auf den Markt kam, als Taucheruhr entwickelt wurde, machten ihr wasserdichtes Gehäuse, ihre solide Konstruktion und ihr gutes Aussehen sie zu einem Liebling von Abenteurern und Städtern gleichermaßen, einschließlich James Bond, der sie in Klassikern wie Dr. No und Goldfinger trug.
