Un nombre omnipresente en el mundo de la arquitectura y el diseño contemporáneos, Philippe Starck ha creado de todo, desde interiores de hoteles y yates de lujo hasta cepillos de dientes y teteras. Sin embargo, para cada proyecto de su variada cartera, Starck ha mantenido un estilo característico reconocible al instante: un aspecto que es dinámico, elegante, fluido e ingenioso.

Hijo de un ingeniero aeronáutico, Starck estudió diseño de interiores en la École Nissim de Camondo de París. Comenzó su carrera de diseñador en los años setenta decorando clubes nocturnos de la ciudad, y su reputación de interiorista enérgico y original le valió en 1983 el encargo del presidente francés François Mitterrand de diseñar los apartamentos privados del Palacio del Elíseo.
