In the foreground, men in white garments—typical pilgrimage attire—gather and hurl stones toward a symbolic structure in the distance, representing the devil. The print was published in 1863 as part of a Dutch educational series titled *De Voornaamste Godsdiensten* (The Principal Religions), in the section called *Het Islamisme* (Islam), created by the Dutch Arabist and historian Dr. Reinhart Pieter Anne Dozy. Dozy was a professor at the University of Leiden and a prominent Orientalist whose scholarship focused on Islamic culture, language, and history.
