Colorful Compound on the Point

Family Home de Kati Curtis Design en Rye, NY

When these clients first came to us, their one rule was non-negotiable: “We don’t want to paint anything.” This challenge sparked a creative focus on layering—bespoke furnishings, statement lighting, and artful wallpapers from Kravet, Eskayel, and Holland & Sherry brought warmth and texture to every space. Custom furniture by KCD paired with iconic pieces from Baker and McGuire, vintage rugs, and curated art (including works by Picasso and Hunt Slonem) gave the home its soul. Each room became a study in cohesion and comfort—like the husband’s TV room, where we balanced his request for “barcalounger” comfort with refined upholstery in Holland & Sherry wool suiting.

Still, something felt unfinished. I gently proposed bending the “no paint” rule—and once they agreed, the home’s final transformation unfolded. Walls painted in rich Benjamin Moore hues pulled the palette together and brought emotional depth to the spaces. The client’s response said it all: “Why didn’t we do this sooner?” From the whimsical Eskayel curtains to the controversial (but now beloved) wall-to-wall carpet in the primary bedroom, every detail reflects thoughtful curation. This project is a testament to how restraint, when paired with bold vision, can create something unexpectedly magical.
