Harmonious Home
Designed by Sarah Barnard, this Southern California kitchen utilizes stealth ergonomics to create an inclusive, multi-generational environment optimized for living.
Layout & Ergonomics: Re-mapped traffic patterns isolate high-activity zones within the 1930s home's original footprint to reduce fatigue. Includes multiple dedicated prep stations for seated users, custom white oak cabinetry with pull-down shelving, and easily reachable outlet thresholds.
Materials & Craftsmanship: Locally crafted white oak cabinetry with integrated tumbled white bronze pulls, matte concrete-toned countertops, an Ashlar-pattern natural stone backsplash, and antique pewter plumbing fixtures.
Preservation & Sustainability: Hand-applied plaster walls to honor heritage dining room moldings. The original flooring and existing cooktop were salvaged and reused. Reupholstered vintage furniture and custom Hermit Thrush textiles celebrate regional biodiversity.
