Island Living: an Île Saint-Louis flat
Overlooking the Seine since the seventeenth-century, this Île St. Louis flat is a mix of past lives – Normand, Napoleonic and very Parisian.
Massive oak beams and a cobblestone courtyard inspired the design: a modern loft in the guise of a country manor. Opening up the original maze of rooms allowed for a grand front salon - formerly two parlors - with lounging, dining and an open kitchen. Around the corner, double doors lead from the entry foyer directly into the main bedroom.
With it's mix of textures and patterns, contemporary and antique furnishings, the flat seems to have evolved over time - the 'brocante' look.
Evening comes; city lights reflect off the water and flicker across the ceiling as they have for hundreds of years. La vie est belle
