Louis Hanson Independence Barber Chair

An immaculate barbers chair made by the Louis Hanson Company of Chicago, Illinois.
This rare and beautifully presented example is the Independence model and carved from oak with decorative detailing.
The fully reclinable chair and the patented hydraulic system allows the chair to be raised and lowered and the ability to swivel at 360 degrees.
The joints to the arms, headrest, footrest and lever are all cast and finished in beautiful polished nickel. The decorative footrest bears the company insignia and also the Independence model branding.
The chair is upholstered in the original supple black leather which carries no rips or tears and is fully studded to the perimeter. The arm, back, foot and head rest carry the same leather and detailing.
The four oak legs are finished with brass feet with grip ridges to each.
The back of the seat carries the studded brass makers plaque for the Louis Hanson Company.

Like the other members of our 'Bond Series', the completely transparent acrylic Stooble is defined by the trough nestled underneath its surface. The trough enables you to curate your own sub-seat terrarium, or to display your own accents, oddities, and other objects of intrigue. Its transparent nature allows the piece to house accents that compliment its surrounding environment while also creating a sense of space. The 12” diameter alder wood seat is left raw for you to finish to your taste, or ipe is available and recommended for outdoor installations. The cast-iron assembly is painted satin black. Our rule of thumb for spacing is “one seat every two feet.”
