JIM PALLAS (1941-) American painter, draughtsman, sculptor, and printmaker. An innovator of technological art beginning in the early 1960s, Pallas drew inspiration from his upbringing in Detroit, Michigan where he had early exposure to the automobile industry, its materials and design. He is recognized for having employed electronics and early computer technology to enable his sculptures to respond to external stimuli. Often the circuit boards specifically designed for a particular piece were, themselves, drawings.
Throughout his varied career, Pallas has created sculptures and reliefs employing a variety of subjects often imbuing the objects with humor and irony, yet connecting them to everyday life and experiences. Represented by the preeminent Allan Stone Gallery in New York for more than two decades, Pallas’s work has been exhibited in and collected by institutions nationwide including the Detroit Institute of Art, and Columbia University. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Wildlife sculptor, Darrell Davis, knew at age 15 he wanted to be a sculptor after visiting the South Carolina’s Brookgreen Sculpture Garden. Davis studied art as an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Arlington, and took graduate classes in landscape architecture also at the University of Texas.
In 2013 Darrell was awarded the Gold Medal and Maurice B Hexter prize at the National Sculpture Society 80th Annual Exhibition held at the Tampa Museum of Art and Brookgreen Gardens SC. About the Artist:
Treg Silkwood is a glass artist whose career spans over three decades. He is recognized as a premier California Marine Artist and one of the foremost artists working in glass. Taking inspiration from walks along the California coast, Treg’s artwork explores his fascination with the many species of shells and natural objects he’s collected from his excursions. In response to these elegant forms, Treg creates blown glass sculptures that not only enrich his appreciation for the intricate complexities of the natural world but also form a personal connection to a place which he calls home.
Treg has a BFA in glass from Alfred University and studied abroad at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague, where he learned Czech mold-making and coldworking techniques. Post graduation, Treg worked as a glass blower recreating Early American Glassware at Greenfield Village, within The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. He was an artist-in-residence at The Corning Museum of Glass in New York and part of the original crew that created The Corning Musuem of Glass Roadshow. Born in Co. Meath in 1976, John Fitzgerald is now established as one of Irelands leading Equine, Sporting and Portrait Artists.
Originally John studied Industrial Design in Letterkennny RTC & at the University of Wales, Swansea. It was while in college that he developed a strong understanding of drawing and design, and the different techniques used in completing a piece from initial concept sketches, to oberservation, to 3 dimensional form.
In 2013 John was asked to be the artist in residence by the Curragh Racecourse where he now has his own studio/gallery, which is open to the public on race days.
2014 saw Johns work reach a huge audience at the Cheltenham festival, where he was filmed by Channel 4 racing while completing a range of works including A.P.Mc Coys portrait, and a set of sketches...
