Lichen Two, Long Hanging Sculpture, Torch-Worked Glass, Chain Maille Links
By David Licata
Located in Kent, CT
This long hanging sculpture by David Licata is composed of square links of torch-worked borosilicate glass in pale jade green, orange, pale translucent yellow, bright neon yellow, deep burgundy red, and clear links towards the bottom. The square links are joined together in a Japanese four-to-one chain maille pattern, cascading downward from an asymmetrical, bent glass tube supported by two metal brackets that can be installed in the wall. The result is an ethereal, delicate work that casts dynamic shadows on its surroundings and glistens in light. Transforming rods of borosilicate glass with fire, David Licata uses a variety of gas torches to pull, stripe, blend, twist and bend glass into ornate links which are transformed into an elaborate wall sculptures of undulating glass. Licata who is exceptionally knowledgeable and adept at creating historic chaine maille patterns often bases his contemporary artwork in that tradition. Licata’s sculptures explore the ideas of protection inherant in chain maille and linked fencing in contradiction to the implicit fragility of glass. Variously transparent and opaque, solid and ephemeral, his glass sculptures are solid forms and also cast shadows that are fugitive and integral parts of the artwork. David Licata has a MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI and a BA in Fine Arts and Education from SUNY New Paltz...

Come Close, Lilac, Pale Purple, Beige, Ivory Stripes
By Audrey Stone
Located in Kent, CT
In this flashe painting on canvas, thin, carefully ordered stripes of color in gradient shades of soft hues, starting with pale peachy shade of beige in the center to light lilac and violet and purple transition back to light beige at the edges. Signed, dated and titled on verso. Audrey Stone has spent her lifetime being fascinated with color and line. Her paintings are explorations of these two elements, appearing in thick blocks of color and subtle color gradients. The boundaries between broad and narrow bands of color generate optical vibrations, stimulating visual processes for a viewer as the colors transition and inform an emotional and physical response to the work. Stone’s paintings present a dynamic opposition within graphic blocks of color in a perfect ordered symmetry, a simultaneity of excitement and calm, movement and stillness. Audrey Stone’s work has been exhibited across the US as well as in Tokyo, Vienna, Prague and Bulgaria. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, W Magazine, Times Union and New York Artist Circle, to name a few. The work is in the collections of Ameritas Foundation in Bulgaria and Credit Suisse among others. Stone earned...

Silk Road 412, Bright Orange, Peach, Encaustic Wax Color Field Painting
By Joanne Mattera
Located in Kent, CT
This is a deep, bright orange encaustic (pigmented beeswax) painting on birch panel with coral pink along the edge. Signed, dated and titled on verso. Joanne Mattera is the foremost expert in the field of encaustic painting and is the founder and former director of the International Encaustic Conference. Her artwork is in the collections of The New Britain Museum of Contemporary Art, US Embassies (Slovenia and Poland), US State Department, Bank of America, and Norwegian Cruise Lines, to name a few, as well as numerous private collections. Studio 2006, Pointillist Interior Painting, Artist Studio
Located in Kent, CT
In this pointillist interior scene, an artist's studio is carefully painted in colorful dots in acrylic and gouache on Duralar mounted on panel. Signed and dated on verso. Kirstin Lamb’s gridded, meticulously detailed paintings on transparent acetate are labor-intensive paintings of labor-intensive textiles and patterns. To create these embroidery paintings, Lamb starts by generating a digitized grid and painstakingly painting each individual gridded stitch by hand using acrylic and gouache on a wet media acetate. The process creates a one-to-one relationship of mark to stitch, the act of each brushstroke serving for the stitch of a needle. Lamb’s embroidery paintings draw patterns from French floral wallpaper of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, while others draw inspiration from vintage embroidery patterns...

Wild Geranium Two, Botanical Painting Black Panel, Gold Flowers, Leaves, Stem
By Margot Glass
Located in Kent, CT
This delicate botanical drawing is made with gold acrylic on cradled panel, painted black. The exploration of ephemerality, and the fragility of a wild geranium, its leaves, flowers and buds are the focus of this painting by Margot Glass. The exquisite beauty of the flower is discovered and elevated through close examination and exquisite drawing by the artist. Initialed, signed, dated and titled on verso. This series is the result of the artist's wildflower research conducted while hiking along the Pacific coast. Working on a dark ground allows the gleam and luster and delicate reflective silver and gold properties of the metallic medium to present as high tones against the black ground. Glass is interested in the tradition of using nature as idealized ornament in art and design while seeking to observe and represent these plants as accurately as possible in all their irregularity and imperfection. The metallic lines enhance the decorative qualities of the filigree patterns formed by the seed heads and leaf veining. Her compositions are tightly cropped to bring the subject as close to the edge of the picture plane as possible. Margot Glass’s work been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally. Glass’s education includes studies in the Brown/RISD Exchange Program, Brown University...

Field Painting June 25 2022, Summer Landscape, Green Tree, Lavender Flowers
By Thomas Sarrantonio
Located in Kent, CT
A peaceful outdoor scene with a grassy field with lavender, blue and purple flowers beneath a tree with dark green leaves, beautifully capturing the idyllic feel of a field of wildflowers in late June. Signed, dated and titled on verso. The paintings of Thomas Sarrantonio seek to mediate between realms of external perception and internal reflection. They present themselves as meditations on nature and self. Choosing humble, often overlooked subject matter, such as the overgrown grasses at the edge of a field, he attempts to translate the dynamic processes of Nature into the stasis of physical matter on a painted surface. Small works are produced directly from Nature while large paintings are studio productions that utilize memory, experience, imagination and conceptual ideas to negotiate the terrain of contemporary painting. The paintings are offered to the viewer as templates to provoke active participation in the process of seeing and quiet contemplation of the act of consciousness. Thomas Sarrantonio studied Painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia where his teachers included Wil Barnet...

Dandelion with Two Buds, Botanical Drawing on Black Paper Made With 14K Gold
By Margot Glass
Located in Kent, CT
This delicate botanical drawing is made with 14 karat gold on painted black paper. The exploration of ephemerality, and the fragility of a dandelion gone to seed, its leaves and buds are the focus of this series by Margot Glass. The exquisite beauty of the humble dandelion often considered to be mundane or undesirable is discovered and elevated through close examination and exquisite drawing by the artist. Framed in a light natural wood frame with archival materials. 12 x 9 inches (unframed), $1400. (unframed), 14 x 11 inches (framed), $1650. (framed). Signed, dated and titled on verso, initialed on recto. Glass draws with 14 karat gold and graphite (appearing silver) not only for the delicacy of line the metal point provides, but also for the allure of using a semiprecious and precious metals as a drawing material.

Feather Group Four, Silverpoint Drawing, Bird's Feathers, Soft Gray on White
By Margot Glass
Located in Kent, CT
This delicate drawing is made with silverpoint on prepared archival board. The exploration of ephemerality, and the fragility of nature, its textures and movement, is the focus of this work by Margot Glass. The exquisite beauty of a group of simple feathers, often overlooked or considered mundane, is discovered and elevated through close examination and exquisite drawing by the artist. Signed and titled on verso and initialed on recto, lower right corner. Framed in a silver frame, 10 x 8 inches (unframed), 12 x 10 inches (framed). Glass draws with pure silver not only for the delicacy of line the metal point provides, but also for the allure of using a semiprecious metal as a drawing material. Working on an archival board allows the gleam and luster and delicate reflective silver properties of the metallic medium to present as soft and textured against the ground. The surface is primed with traditional silverpoint ground. The silverpoint ground is slightly chalky when dry to provide a subtle toothy surface to grab the silver particles. Glass is interested in the tradition of using nature as idealized ornament in art and design while seeking to carefully observe as accurately as possible in all the irregularity and imperfection. The metallic lines enhance the decorative qualities of the filigree patterns formed by the minute details in each object. Her compositions are tightly cropped to bring the subject as close to the edge of the picture plane as possible. Margot Glass’s work been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally.
