Antique 1890's Victorian French Couture Floral Embroidered Yellow Satin Gown
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
Undiminished by time, this Mme Arnaud on 16 Rue Bassano Paris couture ensemble from the Victorian era still casts its seductive spell. An exceptional evening ensemble fashioned from vibrant sunshine yellow silk-satin. The gorgeous three-dimensional purple iris floral embroidery really sets this formal gown apart from others of it's time. I love the ruched fully-corset bodice which are so modern and chic. Making a bold and dramatic fashion statement, this must have been worn to an extremely regal event in. Totally looks like the type of garment that inspired John Galliano when he was head designer at Christian Dior. This is truly a rare and exceptional quality made piece of wearable art.

Incredibly stunning and highly desirable Giorgio Sant' Angelo designer bodysuit ensemble dating back to the late 1970's. He first hit the fashion scene when Diana Vreeland asked him to design clothing for a desert location shoot that starred Verushka in 1968. This shoot is legendary and his clothing was instantly sought out by all the most fashionable women on the planet. Sant' Angelo was the winner of two Coty Awards and two Council of Fashion Designers of America honors. He has had an entire museum exhibit dedicated to his work and will go down in history as one of the great American designers. This seductive two-piece set is a perfect example of his genius. I love the low-cut plunging draped bodysuit as a wardrobe staple. Would also look fantastic with trousers or jeans! The interior is a stretch jersey in a matching burgundy hue so when you put it on, the bodysuit molds to your bod in the most comfortable way. The sleeves are cut long and the draped backless bodice flows into the sash which wraps around the waist. Such a smart design! The matching high-waist embroidered fringe maxi skirt finishes the look off effortlessly. Sant' Angelo once said, "I am not a fashion designer but an artist who works in fashion engineer of form." We added many pictures so you can appreciate this masterful achievement.

Two-part ceremony nuptial dress (?), skirt and bodice, Japanese style dating from the Belle Epoque. High-waisted corset with a label woven on the waistband indicating Mademoiselle Tessier St Etienne. Cream satin background finely pleated with straw yellow silk crepe on the bust. Eloquent drapery work, knotted and bouillonné, in straw-yellow crepe on the long sleeves ending with a cream-colored cotton lace ruffle. Rich plastron emphasizing the silhouette, consisting of three lugs in satin embroidered with white, gold and silver sequins. Festoons of faceted steel beads and lace on the edges. Small bustle skirt in straw yellow silk damask decorated with waving stems of cherry blossoms in button. A wide straw-yellow satin ribbon tightens the waist and accentuates the S-line of this refined girl ensemble. Very good condition of color and conservation.
