Edwardian Silver-Mounted Stationary Box with Matching Victorian Blotter

About the Item

This box has much evident quality. The pierced cover is repousse with scrolling acanthus leaves, flowers and trellis-work about a vacant cartouche. It has a long "piano" hinge and is lined in emerald green watered silk. Serendipitously, we have the matching blotter, the cover identically mounted, lined in crimson watered silk. The box is Edwardian hall marked for 1908, the blotter is marked for 1897 both are made in Birmingham. Neither has been over-cleaned so the repousse work is intact.
