Wedgwood Crimson Covered Jug

About the Item

A lovely crimson jasperware jug by Wedgwood, featuring an applied white jasper neoclassical decoration of acanthus leaves and grapes bordering the rim. Maidens, children, and foliage provide the main focal point on the body. A twisted jasper handle and original lid complete this great jug. Jasperware is one of Wedgwood's crowning achievements, and is highly acclaimed for revolutionizing ceramic art. Marked "WEDGWOOD / ENGLAND" circa 1891-1898 Measure: 8 1/2" high.
