Modern and manufactured ceramic etagere
Located in Münster, DE
The ceramic-etagere "Nepturn" is part of an entire etagere series of CortoMagDelft and can be used as a conventional etagere to place and store snacks but also as a cake, - jewelry- or key-stand. The stability is given thanks to a thin metal rod, which is covered by a brass pipe. Every ceramic part is handmade and hanpainted, engobed and glazed and therefore washable (not in the dishwasher though). The special technique we have developed for the etageres involves a varying result: each level of the etagere is another unique piece and as such can not be reproduced exactly. This results in slightly different dimensions for each etagere. Not only every form of an etagere differs from another etagere, also the hand-painting and glazing remains an unreplicable procedure, too: Nepturn has a different color design than the other etageres.
Due to the clay-string technique we use there is a crack in the ceramic bottom plate...

Antique Polished Copper Chaudron or Wine Cooler, Wrought Iron Handle, circa 1850

Antique copper cookware, such as this polished chaudron with wrought iron handle are highly sought-after decorative pieces due to their unique color and (typically) bright patina. handcrafted in France, circa 1850, our chaudron has a shaped wrought iron handle that rests on a thick rolled rim when not in the upright position. The handle is affixed to the cauldron by a pair of horseshoe shaped mounts, each with two rivets. When the chaudron was used for cooking, the handle would be raised and fitted onto a cremaillere (chimney hook...

The Memphis style
Was emerged in 1981, when the Italian designer and architect Ettore Sottsass founded a group of artists and designers called Memphis. Bob Dylan’s song 'Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again' was playing on repeat during the group’s first meeting, which led to the group being named 'Memphis'. After the inaugural meeting, the group decided that they would meet again in February 1981. The members brought over 100 drawings with them, picturing a variety of bold, colorful designs with multiple stylistic influences. The Memphis Group went on to create furniture, fabrics, patterns, ceramics and other products in a distinctly Postmodern style that blended stylistic traits of 1950s kitsch...
