The five taller fluted areas have cartouches of pink, puce and gold purple Indian flowers on both the inside of the compote and the outside. Below the fluted top of the compote is reticulation or openwork which has cross-hatched gold decoration around the openwork. The inside of the compote has a circular purple Indian painting decoration with pink, puce and gold accents. The bottom of the compote has a thick gold border. There is a lovely purple Indian decoration above that. You can see that this Meissen purple Indian compote has been painted and made with so much attention to detail. It is definitely a work of art.
