Tall Meissen Purple Indian Reticulated Compote with Pink, Puce & Gold Decoration
Located in Boston, MA
This tall Meissen reticulated purple Indian compote is very rare and extremely hard to find. It is a beautiful serving compote or decoration for your table, your sideboard or your cabinet. It would make a stunning addition to any table setting. First of all, the colors on the Meissen purple Indian are pink, puce, gold with a white background. The pattern is extremely eye catching, bright and cheerful. The painting of this compote has been beautifully executed by the Meissen artists. The top of the compote is fluted, and it has five taller flutes which are all surrounded with gold borders. The five taller fluted areas have cartouches of pink, puce and gold purple Indian flowers on both the inside of the compote and the outside. Below the fluted top of the compote is reticulation or openwork which has cross-hatched gold decoration around the openwork. The inside of the compote has a circular purple Indian painting decoration with pink, puce and gold accents. The bottom of the compote has a thick gold border. There is a lovely purple Indian decoration above that. You can see that this Meissen purple Indian compote has been painted and made with so much attention to detail. It is definitely a work of art.
