Regency English Mahogany Antique Extending Dining Table
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A fine quality late regency period mahogany extending dining table retaining exceptional colour and patina to well figured top with two original removable leaves raised on elegant turned and fluted legs with superbly carved corner patrae & original brass castors (With a whole plethora of options available in terms of antique dining tables it can be an absolute mine field trying to decide which suits each individual purpose. This particular example is worth considering for a variety of reasons, not least the fantastical overall quality and excellent choice of timber selected. It also retains a good colour and patina. The extending design is of the full out type which is generally seen in the earlier Georgian and Regency versions, the wind out design more commonly seen is generally regarded as a Victorian and later feature. Another advantage of this design is that there is just the 4 corner legs which allow maximum flexibility in terms of chair and human leg...

Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A Very Good Quality Late 19th Century, Victorian Period, Walnut Wellington Chest Of Drawers, Having Seven Superbly Figured Drawers With Original Brass Swan Neck Handles, Enclosed By Hinged Locking Pilaster With Carved Decoration, Raised On Original Plinth Base. The first Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley, commissioned the first chest of this type, i.e. a tall bank of drawers secured by hinged locking pilasters to take with him and carry around various battlefields and that is where the name wellington chest comes from. It is now used to refer to almost any tall, narrow antique chest...

Stylish Pair Graduated Brown Glazed Studio Pottery Moon Vases
Located in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire
A very well made and stylish pair graduated studio pottery moon vases believed to date from the 20th century and probably originating from the UK. The stoneware vases are lightly potted standing on flat narrow oval shaped bases and both are hand crafted in narrow round moon shape with short narrow funnel necks and slighted everted thicker opening. The vases are decorated in splashed tenmoku brown glazes on a red brown glazed ground with a linear pattern running diagonally across the bodies. Both vases have impressed marks which we have been unable to identify, one with a series of collectors paper labels suggesting possible makers. However we have been unable to verify any of these. The dimensions provided are for the larger vase and the smaller example measures: height 16 cm, width 12.5 cm and depth 4.5 cm. Absolutely stunning display pieces...

Georgian Mahogany Oval Butlers Tray on Stand
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A very good quality late 18th century, Georgian period, mahogany oval butlers tray of Panelled design, retaining original brass hinges to folding sides with pierced carrying handles, raised on later square leg mahogany stand. During the 18th and 19th centuries a coffee table was not what we regard as a coffee table in the 21st century. Coffee tables back then were always full height, effectively side tables. The modern, low, coffee table is really something which began to be seen during the early 20th century onwards. Based on the above there is a variety of different methods to incorporate a coffee table into an interior for people who wish to furnish their properties with genuine antique furniture, whilst still allowing for the practicalities and function which is required in modern times. Therefore as is now normal with by far the majority of these butlers trays which we see, due to the fact they make absolutely perfect coffee tables, this has been removed from its original, tall, folding stand at some point and fitted onto a lower, more practical and sturdy stand constructed from old antique wood. It’s worth noting that generally this means an old broken table...

18th Century Mahogany Tea Caddy
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A late 18th century, Georgian, Mahogany tea caddy having extremely attractive inlaid conch shells, banded and strung decoration, with hinged lid enclosing lidded interior retaining partial paper foil lining. This particular caddy is relatively plain and simple in design, but the attractive inlaid decoration lifts it significantly. The condition remains relatively good and clearly it has been well loved throughout its life. Tea was a precious commodity throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and the purpose of a tea caddy was not just to preserve the and extend the life of the precious tea leaves, but also to enable the owner to lock away those aforementioned valuable tea leaves, keeping them safe from the house staffs potential wandering hands. This 18th century tea caddy...

Victorian Burr Walnut Baby Sutherland Table
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A Very Good Quality Late 19th Century Burr Walnut Baby Sutherland Type Coffee Table, Having Superbly Figured Oval Drop Flap Top, Raised On Elegant Turned Legs And Supports Retaining Original Castors. The epitome of versatility, Baby Sutherland tables are one of our best selling articles. This one is veneered with attractive burr walnut and stands at coffee table height, which means that with both flaps raised it makes a great portable coffee table with the additional bonus of being able to have its flaps folded down and can be tucked away when not in use, taking up effectively no floor space whatsoever of consequence. The term “Sutherland Table” is believed to originate from the first full size, non “baby” variants of these tables being named after The Duchess Of Sutherland...

Coalport Coffee Can Porcelain Hand Painted Cornflowers Pattern, circa 1805
By Coalport Porcelain
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a good quality coffee can that we attribute to the Coalport porcelain works, Shropshire, England, made during the John Rose period of the George 111rd years, circa 1805. The coffee can is nominally parallel, tapering slightly to the base, with a simple loop handle, with a slight lower kink and pointed attachments. It has a shallow foot recess with obtuse corner and is unmarked to the base. The pattern is beautifully hand painted in the French Chantilly style with cornflower sprigs in gold gilt and blue with red & green leaf detail to the lower half with an upper border continuous cornflower pattern, all between gold gilt rings with further gilt decoration to the outer handle and gilding around the lower rim. We date this piece to the late George third...
