The story presented by the makers of this sculptural lamp is set at a shoe cobbler’s workshop. Made in the traditional Viennese manner of cold-painted bronze, the piece is an outstanding example of high quality Orientalist design.
Three shoe cobblers are depicted working together in a traditional Orientalist building, one covered by textiles to protect them from the elements. The wall is decorated with a large pair of scissors, a tool often used by shoe cobblers.
In the foreground is a male figure reaching towards a wooden bench on which shoes needing repair are displayed. Behind him, sitting on a bamboo-supported table sit two other male figures. The first one is caught mid-speaking, in a pose suggesting he is excited. On his legs is a piece of textile. The man next to him is seen holding threads in both hands, repairing a vibrant red shoe. All figures are dressed in loosely fit clothing...

The clock is modelled in the image of an 18th century sedan chair – that is, a covered chair sat in by a member of the social elite, which was carried on poles by two people. This chair-shaped clock case is crafted from gilt bronze (ormolu) and decorated with festoons and a flower finial. At its centre, there is a circular white enamel dial, which features Arabic Numbers, colorful swag paintings, and the manufacturer’s name, 'Fd Gervais / Ft du Bronzes / A Paris'. An exceptional, fine and impressive set of four antique Victorian English sterling silver salt spoons; an addition to our silver flatware collections.
These exceptional antique Victorian English sterling silver spoons have been crafted in a desirable ornamental shaped-swan design.
Each finely cast handle is embellished a protruding swan neck design to the lower portion and terminal, in addition to curvilinear plumage textures to the stem.
The swan to the lower portion incorporates spread wings accented with the feet integrating with the rounded organic decorated spoon bowl; the interior of each bowl is gilded.
By virtue of their size these unusual and versatile spoons could be used for a multitude of functions.
These exceptional antique silver spoons have been crafted by the renowned and collectable London cutlery maker George Adams of Chawner & Co.
