Vilhelm Lauritzen for Fog & Mørup Chandelier in Opaline Glass and Brass

About the Item

Vilhelm Lauritzen for Fog & Mørup, chandelier, opaline glass, brass, coated brass, Denmark, production 1945 to 1955. This very rare chandelier was created by the renowned Danish Modern architect Vilhelm Theodor Lauritzen for Fog & Mørup during the period spanning from 1945 to 1955. The original design was specifically intended for its use in the "Royal Suite" at the Radio House back in 1945. Lauritzen was a highly significant architect of his era in Denmark and was instrumental in pioneering the Danish modernist movement. Even today, several of his works continue to serve as timeless examples of the once radical and revolutionary architecture that embraced the principle of form follows function. With its captivating composition and fine material use, this chandelier will enlighten your living space in a graceful manner. Arranged in pairs, the downward-facing opaline glass shades are secured to the black coated brass circular frame. Furthermore, these particular lamp shades were exclusively produced by Fog & Mørup. The light construction is suspended by three thin cables and closed at the ceiling with a cone-shaped canopy. Due to its significant size, the chandelier can function as a centerpiece in one's interior. The exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail of the designer are evident in this design, setting it apart as a remarkable exemplar of its kind. Please note that this item is in good, used condition.

  • Angelo Lelii for Arredoluce Chandelier '12701' in Brass and Opaline Glass
    By Arredoluce, Angelo Lelii
    Located in Waalwijk, NL
Angelo Lelii, Arredoluce, chandelier model ‘12701’, brass, duplex opaline glass, nylon, Italy, design circa 1958 This eccentric chandelier model ‘12701’ is designed by the renowned and talented Italian designer Angelo Lelli for Arredoluce. The design features five diffusers executed in beautiful white opaline glass, radiating a soft and delicate light through the room. The frame in black lacquered polished brass creates this spatial arrangement of the pendants that are attached to it, which ensures that the light is evenly divided. Lelii decided to stay modest with the suspension of the light diffusing body by implementing four nylon cables. Paolo Angelo Lelii (1911-1979) was born in Ancona, Italy. After his studies at the Superior Institute of Industrial Art, Milan, he lived and worked in Monza. From 1943, Lelii started manufacturing lamps in his own house and in 1946 he advertised his well-known 'Tris...
