Requiem Floor Lamp, 3D-Printed Sand, Sculptural Organic, Unique Ambient Lighting
Located in ROTTERDAM, NL
[ Launched at the Polestar Showroom, during Dutch Design Week 22 ] Free from the bounds of industrial mediation, a unique identity is created that demands imagination to seek meaning in its Sinistrous form. the light sculpture is simply an amalgamation of intertwining curves, giving form to ideas and inner thoughts. With different personalities from each side, it invites the viewer to perceive their own impressions and references, to conceptualize an alternate reality or speculative scenario; 'The requiem is a composition, set in a world much colder than this one. It's a dark but delicate place where the earth engulfs its surroundings. A hooded figure...

Odyssey Table Lamp, 3D-Printed Sand, Sculptural Organic, Unique Ambient Lighting
Located in ROTTERDAM, NL
This unique table lamp is part of the new and steadily evolving 'Orbital Collection'. Each item in the collection is made from sand, produced using a rare kind of particle bed 3D printing technology in Germany. The manufacturing process uses minimal resources - 3D printing with sand does not require high melting temperatures and therefore uses less energy than traditional means. The excess sand can also be recycled, minimizing waste and the overall footprint. The inspiration for these pieces comes from a form language seen in the natural world as a result of particle collision and erosion by tidal forces or other weathering systems at play. On earth, these forces are mostly linear but in space, the irrational behavior of all kinds of cosmic forces sculpt orbital matter, prompting imagination for all kinds of intricate forms and structures that could exist in the process. The structure of the piece allows light to penetrate through hidden openings and diffuse softly across the textured surfaces. As a composition of rolling curves, the outer form is carved out of the contours and accentuated. We like to think of light as a medium that can be shaped like its fluid; using surfaces as a source of emission and shadows to define depth. DETAILS: Name: Odyssey Lamp...

Hand-Blown Glass Table Lamp, Ligne Collection, Light 1, by Sabine Marcelis
By Sabine Marcelis
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
Dutch-Kiwi designer Sabine Marcelis’s work is at the forefront of contemporary material innovation in product and installation design. She works with glass manufacturers and more, forging partnerships across her industry to bring her ambitiously experimental projects to fruition. Marcelis’s focus is on allowing happenstance sensory experiences to emerge by juxtaposing combinations of unlikely materials and colors. She was educated at the Design Academy Eindhoven and since founding her eponymous studio in 2011 in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, she has built a remarkable roster of clients in fashion, architecture and art. She has created signature pieces for the likes of Rem Koolhaas’s architecture firm OMA, high-fashion labels Fendi and Isabel Marant and luxury beauty brand Aesop. She has also exhibited at the Salone del Mobile in Milan and won Wallpaper* magazine’s Designer of the Year award for 2020. Marcelis was invited to create a sculptural intervention for the interiors of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lily Reich’s iconic Barcelona Pavilion, which saw the debut of the pair’s timeless Barcelona chair in 1929. For her “No Fear of Glass” exhibition, the designer subverted the original request made to van der Rohe to “not use too much glass” by designing chaise longues, pillar lights and a fountain that feature glass as the main material. The rest of her work is informed by a similarly sophisticated playfulness, as evident in the charming forms she creates — she has designed doughnut-shaped rugs, the multifunctional resin Candy Cube side tables...

Small Step Lamp by AOAO
Located in Geneve, CH
Small step lamp by AOAO Dimensions: W 44 x D 11 x H 68 cm Materials: White Plaster Color options available upon request. The idea was born after deciding to reconnect with my family and my grandfather – a sculptor artist. Learning to sculpt and being a designer compelled me to combine these two mediums and use their best values. Experimenting with the functionality of sculpture and the meaning of furniture led me to create the collection. Studio AOAO is an interdisciplinary studio combining art and design. It was created by Alicja Strzyzynska and Onur Iseri in Amsterdam in 2020. “We specialise in making sculptural pieces by experimenting with the functionality of sculpture and the meaning of furniture. In our works, we focus on the emotional connection between the object and the user. All of our work seeks the experience of intimacy and the metaphysical bond between personal interaction and meaningful narrative. Through sculptural value and reflective design, we aim to create pieces that last for generations and help reduce environmental waste.” The inspiration to sculpt came from Alicja’s roots, her grandfather – an artist sculptor. Alicja completed Masters of Arts Degree in Product and Visual Communication Design at Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and finished her bachelor degree in Interior Architecture. Alicja previously worked in Tokyo and Amsterdam in architectural design studios. Onur completed his business studies in Japan and worked in digital design & marketing as well as teaching in Tokyo. The studio’s first collection debuted at Rossana Orlandi Gallery during Milan Design Week 2021. The studio currently collaborates with RO Gallery...

Ligne Light 1, by Sabine Marcelis, Blown Glass, Neon Light, Glass Table Lamp
By Sabine Marcelis
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
The Ligne sculptures were made during a summer artist residency at Pilchuck school of glass. As with many of Sabine Marcelis's explorations with light, these objects were born from a curiosity to explore how a material volume can interact with a single line of light and in this case also how two very different ways of working with glass can elevate eachother. Together with talented neon benders, Sabine Marcelis hand-bent each of the neon lights to wrap around the various glass volumes, accentuating their mass and in turn, the glass volumes filtering the light.
