"Supercomfort" armchair designed by Joe Colombo, 1964 Frame made of two molded plywood panels with sawn-out sections, glued, walnut top veneer, black plastic glides, cover black artificial leather, upholstered and partially reinforced with plastic straps No serial production Dimensions: W. 77cm, D. 81cm, H. 80.5cm, SH 35cm Manufacturer: Comfort, Meda Italy. Joe Colombo (1930 – 1971), was an Italian designer and architect, who started his artistic and creative interests as a painter and sculptor. In 1962 Colombo opened his own design studio in Milan. In addition to architecture and interior design projects, various individual items, such as the Elda armchair for Comfort (1963), the 281 "Acrilica" table lamp (1962) or the Spider lamp (1965) - both for Oluce - were produced. Renowned for his embrace of modern technologies and for the potential he saw in modular furniture and designs, Colombo created a body of furnishings that spoke to the energy and excitement over the potential of the Space Age.
