Louis XVI Style Desk Made by Paul Sormani

About the Item

Elegant Louis XVI style desk made by Paul Sormani (1817-1877). Made of veneered wood and gilt bronze sheathed on top of a patiné havane leather. Molded and decorated on all sides with rich gilt bronze ornamentation, it contains a large drawer adorned with a frieze of interlacing wheat and flowers, in the style of Riesener. The set rests on four fluted legs, which end in bronze sabot. Signed by P. Sormani, Paris, 10 rue Charlot France, circa 1870.
