Biography:
Apgar in Glacier Park was the gathering place for multitudes of artists drawn by the scenery, possible employment with Great Northern Railroad and sales to wealthy visiting art patrons. Bull Head Lodge, Charles M Russell summer home near by, was focus of the developing school. One can only guess at how great artists like Russell, Joe de Yong and host of others interacted with the young teen age wrangler who was likely first trying his hands with the tools of the art trade. Here though the seed was planted that would grow and lead Powell upon his own path and would blossom into over ten thousands works of arts drawn from first hand experiences along with those learned from firelight tales.
Powell, like many others upon the frontier, followed the "Rounder" path of marriages, army service, hard drinking and cowboying, but like the lonely rider in many of his paintings whose horse is finally tied to the hitching post of a Northern Plains ranch cabin he found his home near Glacier National Park in Hungry Horse Montana .
His home here from the 1950's till the 60's was like Charles Russell's with artists coming and going including his wife Nancy McLaughlin and his own son David Powell who started his trail to a Cowboy Artist of America induction here. After a fire in 1964, Ace Powell...

Set in carved gilt wood frames and signed in the lower right and left corner by american artist Robert Lebron, each mid-century art work is painted on canvas and depicts a typical Parisian scene in the style of Edouard Cortes or Galien Laloue. One scene depicts the Place de la Madeleine and the other Place de la Paix with the Opera in the background. Both paintings are in excellent condition with rich and vivid colors.
Robert Lebron (1928-2013) was an American impressionist artist. He was born in New York City, where he attended New York City's High School of Music and Arts. He also went on to study at the Art's Students' League for five years. Lebron developed his own personal technique after several extensive stays in Europe, relying on the use of a palette knife rather than brushes. Lebron has painted in Europe, particularly London and Paris, in Italy and Spain, in Canada and Mexico. He won such awards as the Forbes Magazine Award (travel grant), and he has had one-man shows at the Galeria Studio in Madrid and in New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois and in his home city ( NYC). Most of his paintings feature favorite characters from his childhood including a tiny dog present in most of his paintings, inspired by the comic strip Dickie Dare. It was not until the first decade of the 20th century, as artists like Robert Henri and John Sloan turned their attention to the urban scene, that American art shifted its focus from bucolic landscapes to the cities, the towns, the crowds, especially the raucous urban scene of Manhattan, by then the nation's most important city. This movement away from painting the land to painting the life on the street is often seen as a clean break with the depiction of the landscape, and with landscape painting generally as a mainstay of American art in the face of European Modernism. However, artists continued to paint the Hudson River, as well as its tributaries, the Harlem and East rivers, and the great harbor of New York City. What was different was their approach.
